New branding photography for The Bakewell Bakery

Updated: May 5, 2020

Im pleased to showcase some recent work I photographed for The Bakewell Bakery. Founded by Nick and Jemma in 2011 this independent business specialises in award winning artisan methods of baking. Producing baked goods such as Breads, Confectionery, Bakewell Puddings & Tarts, Bespoke Cakes and of course the famous Derbyshire Oat Cake. In the planning stages before the shoot I kept to a warm and pastel colour palette, to compliment their food and packaging. Designing sets and formulating a colour scheme before a food shoot insures a successful outcome. When styling the food I use simple but effective techniques. I sprinkled flour around and cut open the bread to show the texture inside; giving a homely fresh baked feel. For this particular shoot I also photographed the bakeries packaging. For example stacking the boxes the logo is viewed from different angles; and arranging boxes in a geometric pattern creating interest and structure. I used flat lays to set the scene for a picnic. Using wood effect paper, giving the illusion of a bench and props like a cup of tea. Conjuring up connotations of a homely, countryside styled setting which links back to the bakeries ethos. A small selection of the photos from the shoot can be seen below. For more of my food photography work click here.
